⁣Here's the background. Wichita Falls High School (my alma mater and WE call it Old High) was the first high school in town. We had won so many State football championships we were tied for the most with one other school. But our school board decided to not just close our school but our decades long city rival, Rider HS... so they could build two new high schools at extreme ends of the city (no doubt becuz the land was cheaper at those locations)... and GUT the legacies of BOTH schools by giving the elementary school kids a vote on new mascots for the new schools. We LOVE our football here. In fact we built the first HS AstroTurf football stadium in the state. But think about not only the cost of replacing band uniforms and athletes' but just driving to and from these out of the way locations for every student or just the expense of busing to them. We citizens are already 'enjoying' the fracturous tax increases these 2 new structures have brought up on us. In fact, I look down streets ALL OVER TOWN and see MANY homes up for sale because people are leaving in droves. My understanding is that NONE of the current school board members went to our schools and NONE OF THEM are from here.

Santana - Incident At Neshabur
Recorded Live: 8/18/1970 - Tanglewood - Lenox, MA
More Santana at Music Vault: http://www.musicvault.com
Subscribe to Music Vault on YouTube: http://goo.gl/DUzpUF

Personnel:
Carlos Santana - guitar, vocals
Gregg Rolie - keyboards, piano, lead vocals
David Brown - bass
Michael Shrieve - drums
Jose "Chepito" Areas - percussion, conga, timbales
Mike Carabello - percussion, conga, vocals

Summary:
Recorded just over a year after Santana played its historic Woodstock Music & Art Fair performance, the band was fast becoming one of the biggest in the world. They were about to release their second album, Abraxas, and were riding high on the heels of three hit songs from their debut album and a new Top 10 hit, a cover of Fleetwood Mac's "Black Magic Woman."

A year earlier - in fact only a few days before the Woodstock Festival - Bill Graham staged the first of several concerts billed as "The Fillmore at Tanglewood." Tanglewood is the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the storied venue had just begun to experiment with staging contemporary concerts on their grounds. Staging a rock concert in a classical venue had yet to be done, so of course the concept of doing so excited Graham. He brought the full-scale Fillmore East production team in, including the Joshua Light Show, and booked a great lineup. This first concert featured B.B King, Jefferson Airplane and The Who, and drew the largest crowd that Tanglewood had ever seen by far.

Buoyed by the event's success, Tanglewood and Graham agreed to stage three similar dates in 1970. The last of these is this show, when Santana headlined after The Voices of East Harlem and the legendary Miles Davis had played (you can hear Mile's set here).

This historic and beautifully recorded performance features a smoking performance by Santana in the last year of their classic lineup, before a young Neal Schon joined the band. We think you'll agree it's an incredible performance by a great band in their prime.

Lyrics:
"Silent War"

Somebody’s selling a new religion
Somebody’s selling a lie
Somebody wants all the strife and division
That’s driving us out of our minds

They’re telling the world not trust their own eyes
They’re telling the people they’re wrong
They’re keeping the truth for their power and gain
And taking whatever we’ve got

And some of you eat all the lies you’ve been fed
Some of you just go along
Training acceptance inside of your head
To give them whatever they want

You’re leaving your brothers and sisters behind
You’re told it’s the best thing to do
You’re shutting out friends ‘cause you’re told that’s what’s right
Now they win because all of us lose

And it’s so sad
Watching these times as they change
And it’s so bad
The battle’s been violent and strange
As they lock us indoors
In a prison of this silent war

Now someone is trying to sell you the cure
The same one who made the disease
And they’ll try to convince you and make you feel sure
But hey, there ain’t no guarantees

They covered your mouth and they’ve tied back your hands
They did it to all of the kids
And nobody knows all the damage that’s done
And won’t ask until the master permits

And it’s so sad
Watching these times as they change
And it’s so bad
The battle’s been violent and strange
We all shout behind doors
In a prison of this silent war

So take back your freedom
And fight for your life
Stand up before it’s all gone
Take back your freedom
And fight for your life
Stand up before it’s all gone

‘Cause it’s so sad
Watching these times as they change
And it’s so bad
The battle’s been violent and strange
We can’t let them take more
We can’t let them win this silent war

So take back what is yours
Do not let them win this silent war

"Anti-Fascist Blues" Lyrics:

Everybody head down, pick yourself a pronoun
Join the resistance on government assistance
Stop all the hate as you advocate violenceBlock and suppress anyone you want silenced
Take what you want ‘cause what you want is what you’re owed
Call everyone a fascist ’til they’re all controlled

Preach in the street for the communist party
Pro choice, no voice, never mind the heart beat
Dictate, race bait, agitate, mandate
Dress in drag and burn the flag then run to find a safe space
Tell us how you feel until we give you what you need
Call everyone oppressive ’til they’re on their knees

Impeach free speech, better dye your hair pink
TV, phone screen, it’s better if you don’t think
Debt to university, segregate diversity
Give yourself a ribbon every time you face adversity
Find another problem, tell yourself you’re not alone
Tell everyone who’s straight that they’re all transphobe

Defund police. No guns, oh please
Fight for your right to start a war until there’s no peace
Take it down, tear it up, it’s in the name of progress
Make the rule you never lose ’til everything is lawless
Tell me what to think, and how to feel, and where to go
‘Cause everyone’s a fascist ’til they’re all controlled

Find your path in life but make it socio or psycho
Nonsense, wokeness, you’re gonna lose your mind though
Bigotry, insanity, an ally, or an enemy
There’s too much masculinity so wave goodbye to family
Represent the one percent who want to overthrow
’Til everybody lives to an autonomous zone

Act tough, steel stuff, smash another window
Loot store, get more, grab another brick, throw
She/Her/He/Him/They/Them/Xe/Xem
Women are the men now and the men are now the women
Make yourself a slave until you feel like you are free
Dig yourself a grave for The American Dream

Lyrics:
You may be an ambassador to England or France
You may like to gamble, you might like to dance
You may be the heavyweight champion of the world
You may be a socialite with a long string of pearls
But you're gonna have to serve somebody, yes
Indeed you're gonna have to serve somebody
Well, it may be the devil or it may be the Lord
But you're gonna have to serve somebody
You might be a rock 'n' roll addict prancing on the stage
You might have drugs at your command, women in a cage
You may be a business man or some high-degree thief
They may call you doctor or they may call you chief
But you're gonna have to serve somebody, yes you are
You're gonna have to serve somebody
Well, it may be the devil or it may be the Lord
But you're gonna have to serve somebody
You may be a state trooper, you might be a young Turk
You may be the head of some big TV network
You may be rich or poor, you may be blind or lame
You may be living in another country under another name
But you're gonna have to serve somebody, yes you are
You're gonna have to serve somebody
Well, it may be the devil or it may be the Lord
But you're gonna have to serve somebody
You may be a construction worker working on a home
You may be living in a mansion or you might live in a dome
You might own guns and you might even own tanks
You might be somebody's landlord, you might even own banks
But you're gonna have to serve somebody, yes
You're gonna have to serve somebody
Well, it may be the devil or it may be the Lord
But you're gonna have to serve somebody
You may be a preacher with your spiritual pride
You may be a city councilman taking bribes on the side
You may be workin' in a barbershop, you may know how to cut hair
You may be somebody's mistress, may be somebody's heir
But you're gonna have to serve somebody, yes
You're gonna have to serve somebody
Well, it may be the devil or it may be the Lord
But you're gonna have to serve somebody
Might like to wear cotton, might like to wear silk
Might like to drink whiskey, might like to drink milk
You might like to eat caviar, you might like to eat bread
You may be sleeping on the floor, sleeping in a king-sized bed
But you're gonna have to serve somebody, yes
Indeed you're gonna have to serve somebody
Well, it may be the devil or it may be the Lord
But you're gonna have to serve somebody
You may call me Terry, you may call me Timmy
You may call me Bobby, you may call me Zimmy
You may call me R.J., you may call me Ray
You may call me anything but no matter what you say
Still, you're gonna have to serve somebody, yes
You're gonna have to serve somebody
Well, it may be the devil or it may be the Lord
But you're gonna have to serve somebody

Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
Sometimes
I feel so low-down and disgusted
Can't help but wonder what's happening to my companions
Are they lost or are they found?
Have they counted the cost it'll take to bring down
All their earthly principles they're going to have to abandon?
There's a slow, slow train coming up around the bend

[Verse 2]
I had a woman
Down in Alabama
She was a backwoods girl, but she sure was realistic
She said, "Boy, without a doubt
Have to quit your mess and straighten out
You could die down here, be just another accident statistic"
And there's a slow, slow train coming up around the bend

[Verse 3]
All that foreign oil
Controlling American soil
Look around you, it's just bound to make you embarrassed
Sheiks walking around like kings
Wearing fancy jewels and nose rings
Deciding America's future from Amsterdam and Paris
And there's a slow, slow train coming up around the bend

[Verse 4]
Man's ego is inflated
His laws are outdated,
They don't apply no more, you can't rely no more to be standing around waiting
In the home of the brave
Jefferson turning over in his grave
Fools glorifying themselves, trying to manipulate Satan
And there's a slow, slow train coming up around the bend

[Verse 5]
Big-time negotiators
False healers and woman-haters
Masters of the bluff and masters of the proposition
But the enemy I see
Wears a cloak of decency
All non-believers and men-stealers talking in the name of religion
And there's a slow, slow train coming up around the bend

[Verse 6]
People starving and thirsting
Grain elevators are bursting
Oh, you know it costs more to store the food than it do to give it
They say, "Lose your inhibitions
Follow your own ambitions"
They talk about a life of brotherly love; show me someone who knows how to live it
There's a slow, slow train coming up around the bend

[Verse 7]
Well, my baby went to Illinois
With some bad-talking boy she could destroy
A real suicide case, but there was nothing I could do to stop it
I don't care about economy
I don't care about astronomy
But it sure does bother me to see my loved ones turning into puppets
And there's a slow, slow train coming up around the bend

Click here to pre-order my new Christmas album, 'This Christmas,' featuring my new song "Behold Him": https://francescabattistelli.lnk.to/thischristmas

The story behind this song is an unexpected one. Truth be told, this song was written, recorded, and about to be sent to radio for Christmas 2019, but at the last minute, God put a major check on my heart. So much so, we pushed pause on this song, and on a Christmas EP. Honestly, it was disheartening to have a song like this one ready to release and feel like God was putting the brakes on. But even with the confusion and disappointment, I felt the Lord give me a divine reassurance that this song in some way and somehow was meant for someone in the coming year. Little did I know in that moment over a year ago, the things that would transpire in our country, in our world, and in our communities. In 2020, we have experienced loss together, some deeper and wider than others, but we have all been forced to face disappointments, sit with unmet expectations, and even experience excruciating loneliness and sadness. These troubles, while uncomfortable, remind us ever more so that this world is not our home. It is in these uncertain times that we turn our eyes to the comfort and security of a God who does not look away from our suffering. “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are, yet he did not sin,” - Hebrews 4:15. In this upcoming Christmas season, I pray that we all can focus our attention on the birth of our Savior, the one in whom our hope is secure and never faltering. May we turn our attention from the noise of the world and truly, simply Behold Him.

John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
